I read the above on Twitter from Limerick 1914 on the same day I read this on Radio Kerry's website:

"The Mayor of Tralee has resigned from Fine Gael 
after being a member for 35 years.

Town councillor Pat Hussey left the party because he claimed a gender quota directive from Fine Gael blocked his nomination to 
contest the local elections.

At the Tralee convention, it was decided that of the three Fine Gael candidates chosen, one would have to be a woman.

Pat Hussey says he hasn’t decided yet whether he will stand in next May’s council elections as an independent.

Speaking to Jerry O’Sullivan on Kerry Today, he says he believes that Fine Gael is  going to add a fourth candidate to run in the elections in Tralee.

This is one happy man this week. This is mayor Murray of Seattle. We all know who won America's Super Bowl by now and the newly elected mayor is a huge Seahawks supporter.

The are two remarkable memories that newly elected Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, 58, considers vital in shaping his life. One was John F. Kennedy’s election, the other was being honest with his Irish Catholic family about being gay.
